Several members of notebookforums.com are reporting that their new i9300s are shipping with wuxga screens that exhibit the "sparkle" effect seen on the 9200. I do not have one in hand to verify it but will soon. Hopefully this will not be the case for all of us.

Please update us when you receive your system and post images if possible.
I'm personally on edge now. I have an XPS2 on order and for spending all that money I will not accept a low quality screen. -
What is the sparkle effect. I have a 9300 on order and do not know what that reference means.
Thanks -

from the few people that say they have it, i haven't heard it is the same effect. To give you as true color that doesn't get affected by light, it requires a glossy coat to reflect the light, so the colors on the screen don't get washed out. This can cause the glare too be bad.
A few posts it seems that the screen is glossy but also i haven't heard the same problem as with the I9200 that the screen cannot display true whites.

I just ordered my Inspiron 9300 and it's coming with the WUXGA screen you've mentioned. I'll let you know what it's like. I wasn't able to get everything I could possibly want on my system, but did get:
512MB memory; 256MB NVIDIA 6800 video; standard 40 GB hard drive; CDRW/DVD Combo drive; wireless; modem; network card; additional 9-cell battery; backpack case; and 1 year on-site warranty. Using their nominal sale; free 2nd day shipping; and my EPP discount, I got the system for a grand total of $1,839.78.
I hope to God it's worth it, cause that is a pretty big sum of money for me! Ship date is March 30th. Let's see how accurate it is. -
Did you use the -750 discount code?
I've had mine going on a couple weeks. I love the screen. -
other posts around here have mentioned that the new screen is "glossy". which is not the same as the "sparkle" effect people were talking about with the WUXGA screens on the i9200.
here is a quote from someone in one of the other threads
"I just received it and it looks absolutely amazing.
Not as glossy as the Sony ones and Toshiba I saw at the store. It is kind of in between those and a regular laptop with anti glare."
the sparkle effect people were refering to was a grainy oil slick look to the screen under certain conditions. Interestingly from posts i found on another forum. People with ati-glare filters in their glasses do not experience the sparkle efffect.
hopefully that clears things up a bit for you. Will be able to give you more info in a couple of weeks when my new shiny i9300 turns up.
Also keep an eye out around here as people have started to recieve theors already. -
Mines comming today. I'll let everyone know how mine is tonight.

Try to find out what screen you are using outz. Do this by signing into "My Account" at dell, then going to order history and clicking on your order. It will display you service tag at the bottom. Then take this and go back out and click on my system and peripherals and enter your service tag in. It should then display your screen part number. Something that starts with either a K or a J. Lemme know if you get a chance which one it is. thanks.

When i do that i get:
