Anyone have a inspiron 9300 with a sound card other than the standard AC 97? I heard some manufacturers have a the high definition audio card nowadays on Sonoma systems. What about the 9300? There seems to be no mention of the sound card in the dell websites.

So, I'll be surprised with good sound but can you at least tell me what kind of sound card it is? I bought it already and it's shipping to me from my house because I'm overseas currently.

Gman,
Hi,
Mo matter where I look it saids that the Sigma Tel C- Major is my sound card manufacturer and supplying my drivers. Maybe it is correct.
It's the best I can do . Maybe someone else will answer with different information .
You know it has a tiny subwoofer, right?
Well good luck with your 9300 and if you ever find a compatible sound card that would make it even better , please post it here!
I will stay subscribed to this thread so even if It's months from now you can post it and you'll actually bump this back up to the top also....I think! Not to mention people would love to hear about it if It's possible to make it even better!
I wish you all the best,

The 9300 comes with a SIGMATEL STAC 975X AC97. It is enough for every use I have, and it sounds great. I am not an audiophile, and if you are I'm sure you wouldn't be using any onboard audio anyway.

At least I was part way there related to the sound card and Tim agreed with me about the sound. That should help !
Enjoy,

I actually just got a sound card for the 9300 a couple days ago. Creative Audigy 2 zs notebook. I highly recommend it if you looking for something to produce 5.1 sound in games or movies. It uses up the pcmcia (did i spell that right?) slot and you can prob find more info on it somewhere on the web. Personally i love it. I chose to go with the pcmcia version instead of the Audigy 2 nx which is usb because usb sound cards tend to use up more processor power which would lower frame rates in a game more than the zs would. Also the zs i a lot more portable, with just having a card that slides in the side rather than a usb cable, a box, and a thing to plug into the wall with the usb version.
Just ordered: Dell 9300
Pentium® M 730 Processor (1.60GHz/533MHz FSB)
17 inch UXGA Display with Truelife
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 at 533MHz
256MB NVIDA® GeForce Go 6800
80gb Hard Drive
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless
9-cell Lithium Ion Battery
9300 Sound card?
