Threads here and in other forums have confused me on upgrade memory for the Dell 9300. Some have suggested that one must use certain Dell-spec'd RAM. I was hoping to get "plain" DDR2-533mhz-PC2 4200 memory and pop it in as I ordered it with only 256mb.

Also, will different latency matter? Transcend now has DDR2-533mhz-PC2 4200 at CL=3 rather than the CL=4 most have.

    Help is appreciated. Thanks.

Enter your laptop and look for the ram they recommend. That's not to say they are the only ones out there with ram. But if you only have 256mb in your laptop then you definetly need to upgrade, i'd say to at least 1gig! Mine is coming in the mail, but I already bought 1gig ddr2 4200 533mhz memory card to slip into one of the dimms.
