so i got my 9100 in the other day and i tested out battery performance. i am aware that it sucked, but i was still surprised to find that it only lasted 1 hour and about 10 min with everything turned on. The only powersaving feature that turned on was the dimming of the screen.

another anomaly i noticed while on battery power was that it performs slower. most notably was the taskbar on the right. my laptop has like 15 icons down there, and about 5-7 of them are "hidden". when i unhide them the slider shows really slow. and closes really slow. when its on AC power it opens and closes quite fast. is there something that slows down the computer while under battery power? or is this an issue i should talk to dell about?

    thanks!

PS.. the power supply really is a brick attached to a power cable... ARGH! might as well paint it red LOL

What programs were you running? I have heard of Norton antivirus cutting the life down to 25 minutes! Do you have the battery with the subwoofer on it or the extended life battery? Put the computer into full powersave mode and shut down any unnecessary programs in the corner. Run spybot to make sure there are no programs hijacking your machine.

I got a shade over 2 hours on the Inspiron 9100 when I used it in battery mode and didn't notice any processor performance difference. It's a desktop processor so it's not designed to save power or run differently in battery mode so some type of software setting is causing the slower performance.
