I have been lurking here for a couple of weeks to see your opinions on the 9100. I decided to give it a go and it arrived last week. I used it in my English class today to write a class paper in Word and the battery lasted about 55 minutes.

I set the power scheme to max battery life and made sure that the contrast was on low and wi-fi was turned off.

Is there anything else I can do to extend the battery life????

I love the speed of this machine, but I need at least an hour and a half of battery life. Any suggestions?????

Battery life is one on my biggest beefs with the 9100 as well. I get just over an hour surfing the net. I was thinking about buying the 16 cell battery. It's probably only good for an extra 20 minutes I'm guessing.
If you pack it around a lot, I would recommend sending it back and getting something with a better battery life. Either that or pack around a spare battery with you.

It's annoying for me, but I don't take it anywhere. I got it to replace my desktop.

55 Minutes??! I thought my R3000T Compaq was bad with barely two hours. Did you try calibrating the battery? You need to drain the battery all the way down to zero and then recharge it to 100%.

That's the main draw back of using a desktop processor in a notebook...no power saving technology in those chips, so battery life is going to be short and erratic.
