Does one stick out the front? Or the back? Or does it slant the machine like an m1330?

Weight is not a huge issue. I like the slant, but some photos have led me to believe that the battery sticks out the FRONT of the machine. I am not sure I like this.

Thanks for any input, I am really looking forward to this machine. I will spec it out in my sig when I get a chance.

The 9-cell battery for the D630 sticks out in the front.

One of the reasons I chose the D830 over the D630.

I just got my D630 with a 9 cell battery, and I actually kinda like the fact that it sticks out the front. It works like a wrist rest when I'm typing. I don't find it annoying at all.

I called Dell, and when they transferred me to the CHANGE department, there was an immediate WE ARE CLOSED message. So, I have no idea if they changed it or not and in the meantime I thought it might be fun to try it precisely for the reason mentioned above!

I could ALWAYS use a good wrist rest :)

    So, we shall see. Dave

Agreed with both dordale and Homer_Jay_Thompson... wrist rest + incredibly long battery life! =)

(And at least it's centered in the middle of the laptop and not randomly to one side =P)
