there is a guy selling a 9 cell battery on ebay. He claims that batteries for the inspiron 6400, e1505 and the vostro 1500 are identical. He also claims anyone can buy one battery and use it on any of these three laptops.

    is this true?

I believe the Inspiron 6400 and e1505 are the same thing, so their batteries should be the same. However, since the 1520/1500 is a complete chassis revision, I don't think it'd have the same type of battery.

Of course it's not impossible that it does, just not that probable.

EDIT: Just looking at the various ebay listings, I'm pretty sure the 1505/6400 and 1520/1500 use different batteries.

The 1520 and 1500 are virtually identical. So yes, they use the same ones.
