How awkward is the 9 cell battery in the front of the Latitude 630...does it affect your typing at all? I am debating between getting it and the two 6 cell batteries (one in the regular and the other in the media bay)...because if it affects it a lot..than the extra 90 bucks doesn't seem so bad.

It is up to your preference. I have a D620 with 9-cell, and it doesn't bother me at all. In fact I prefer the battery sticking out on the front rather than at the back.

I have a D620 with the 9-cell, it doesn't affect my typing at all, just a good wrist rest when not typing and using the touchpad.

And you can always get the media/modular/secondary battery on ebay, should be pretty easy to get one for around $40. They're very abundant since so many different D-series laptops use the same one.

Thanks all, how is the battery life as a whole for the D630? I saw on CNET they got like over 4 hours watching a DVD, so this is definently swinging my choice from the T61 to the Dell as I need a lot of battery life being on the go a lot at school being a chemical engineering student and all...

The optional 9 cell battery gives the D630 superior battery life compared to the T61.

In my opinion, it is better to have a battery in the front than a battery in the back (at least if the battery doesn't explode). That is because the battery creates a little palm rest area (which is slightly more needed in the Dell since it is slightly thicker than the ThinkPad) and it allows the computer to be more easily opened in an airplane since the extended battery in the back can sometimes keep you from being able to open the display all the way.
