    the promises those reps make are bogus... their job is to have you belive you're gonna get it "tomorow" and this way kill another day. if i had ordered 7/17 and they didnt send me it after a month i would cancel it right away...im not what you migh call a 'patient person'

    Well i got Shafted

    i ordered mine on 7/23

    at Checkout my ESD was 8/4

    8/4 comes around, i get pushed back to 8/14

    then i got pushed back to 8/28

    and now i check today, im pushed back to 9/6

    they allready charged my Dell account, and i have recived nothing, im am definitly gonna call them today and freaking complain, heck i may even threaten legal action...i have allready made one freaking payment on this thing allready it is absolute garbage i am so freaking frustrated right now you have no idea :(

    ouch ordered mine on 7/18 /sigh if it hits past 18 you should be looking at a big cut off its price

    seems 1720 with blue are really hard to get your hands on , they really should be calling up asking ( we can switch your 1720 with the case from the vostro and have it out today ...... )

    Me too - I just got off the phone with a Dell CSR and he said my order is being delayed because of the LCD screen. He gave me free overnight shipping, I'm surprised I didn't have it already after all my calls where they assured me they would expedite my order. Anyone else have the 1440x900 screen?

    Have your Dell order status page in front of you.

    Call 1 866 535-3578. Choose option 4, then option 4 again. The hold will be about 5 minutes. I got through to a very nice American! Tell them about the extended delay. Ask for compensation for your extended delay. They're authorized to offer you a $50.00 discount or a $100.00 Dell coupon which is good on their site. Your choice.

    Lets see...I have gotten a $75 credit, free up grade to overnight, a $39 credit(I originally chose 2nd day air...back before I grew a foot long beard waiting for this damn machine)

    got some lady, that was pretty much clueless she said she would relay my frustrations to "management" please!

    i have been dealing with Dell for years, but this will be my last dealings i will ever have with then

    being delay from 8/4 to 8/14/to 8/28/ and now to 9/6...absurd!

    i had to agree to a FTC thing or else they are gonna cancel your order

    i reccomend checking your account status and if you are willing to wait for your dell, you ahve to agree to further delays die to FTC regulations or else they will cancel your order without notice

    I called and did that just now. I DID get someone who speaks English, but he informed me that they are not authorized to credit or give coupons before the order has officially shipped because they technically have nothing to credit otherwise. However, he did tell me that all the parts needed for my machine are in and the ESD of 9-5 is completely feasible and that it will probably be built and shipped before that date. I tried to hide my surprise and anger when i heard him say it "can be built now" when the chick on the auto status line has been telling me for weeks that it's in the build stage. Silly me. I assumed the build stage included some kind of building...

    I havent waited nearly as long as you guys and it already feels like an eternity waiting for my laptop... i have almost the same specs as you K but i chose black in the hopes i would get my laptop asap... there better be no DELLays at all period or else...

    I guess I'm joining the club. I called this morning at 8am after seeing my 9/5 ESD. The CSR said that all of the parts are in, that they were previously on backorder, and that is what was delaying my computer. He said he was sure it would ship before 9/5.

    HA!

    I got on the chat line and asked a CSR (mainly just to make them listen to me whine). He told me that he understood (yeah right) and he couldn't promise that it would ship on the 5th. I asked for a direct number for Customer Care. Oh, and he finally *shipped* the free bag they promised me for my wait time.

    So, I call customer care. 30 minutes after being told my computer parts were in, I find out that they are waiting on the screens. They were sorry for the inconvenience an the misinformation, but basically there is nothing they can do. I just need to suck it up and wait.

    I am also delayed unti 9/5. I called this morning and was offered $100 credit without even asking. I guess that makes up for last week when I called and was denied when I asked. :| She said the $100 will be credited to my account (AmEx, I'm assuming) once the computer is invoiced. Just FYI.

    I'm one of the folks that just learned that my date isn't really 09/05, it's 09/10. The CSR told me that Dell accidentally sent a date of 09/05 to everyone (even new orders). I called because I got a second email this evening telling me my order was delayed to 09/05 - the CSR told me everyone should be getting new notices about the 09/10 date.

    I cringe every time I get an email from Dell.

    I think I have the earliest order date so far, 7/8. I plan on returning this to Dell anyways if my V2S comes in first, if not, I may cancel my V2S if my m1330 arrives first, and is in perfect condition. If not, I'll just return it or sell it to someone who doesnt feel like waiting a month for this laptop.

    Gang....if you REALLY want your computer...I highly suggest you cancel and re-order in black or white.... I waited 6 weeks for my pink 1720 before I finally got fed up enough to cancel.....I am happy to say my 1721 lappy arrived for me last week in only 6 days from the day I ordered it!!!

    I know it is hard to cancel an order you have waited so long for but dang...the delays could go on for weeks!

    I am really happy with my Alpine White lappy....honestly, the only time you see the darn color of the thing is when you close the lid...and if you are like me that is not too often, as I am always on my puter anyways....

    You can get nothing useless from DELL reps. They just gave you what you can check by yourself. Nothing they told you is true except their names!!!

    How many of us can't bear another delay after the 9/05?

    well talked to customer service ..... honestly there just fillers / delays to get customers to not cancel there order ... was told last night .... its the blue color holding your order .... this morning its your processor thats holding your order ( or the person was so clueless that the computer is the processor and ya that is holding up my order ) but im like WHAT? its the processor like dell is such a big company and there short processors since 8/18 sure others got there laptops though ..... i call bs yet again well any other laptop company running anything close to dell .... i dont care about colors.

    well on other thoughts ...* starts passing out maps of all dell buildings and tickets to multiple country's ...... grab your fav weapons ** please note the more dell service reps lie the more die. ( oh well that should cover all of them x1000 )

    Yeah, it's pretty much impossible to say what is holding up your order at any given time. The reps will say just about anything and everything, so.. You just have to wait and hope I guess.

    Also, in regards to your sig, "third-ary" is actually tertiary. ;)
