I must admit I am a little amazed that other notebooks are offering at least pre-orders for the 8800M GTX and not a thing for sure from Dell. Does anyone have anything concrete on this and a date?

the other companies that offered it. jumped the gun. most need mobo upgrades to support it.

when dell comes out with it. they will have it tested.

    it's called quality control

    something that Clevo don't have

How much do u think it'll cost when it comes out?
and do u think the price for the older ones will drop when it does?

I'm asking b/c I wanna get a 1720, but I'll be really sad If the price drops right after I buy it.

Wishful thinking, but I'd like it if you could purchase the card by itself and drop it straight into a 1720. That'd make me smile.

Agreed. I'd like to see laptops, become standardized. Like Desktops are. Their motherboards come in formfactors, (ATX, BTX, mini ATX etc) It'd be awesome if they did that with laptops. That way pretty much we could upgrade anything that would fit our machines form factor. But so many technicalities, that it would likely not happen for a long long time.

    >.> Considering they just released a 15.4" laptop thats much better than the 1720, I would be shockingly surprised if they put a 8800m gtx in the 1720.

What about an 8800M GTS in the upcoming 1725? Afterall, they put a 7900GS in the e1705.

Dell many times has been first to offer new video cards and technology items. What has happened, whats the big secret...usually we hear of leaks from someone about a date for a release.
