I've heard that the 8600M GT that comes in the Inpiron 1720 has GDDR2 and the one in the XPS 1530 has GDDR3 .. Is this true ??

The Performance Boost is only about 30% between GDDR2 and 3.. it is possible to OC the 8600 DD2 to DDR3 speeds however.

30% can mean a lot in modern games... especially Crysis.
If you OC to DDR3 speeds, I can overclock it even more.

I'd get the XPS just for GDDR3. And it's sleek looks.

I wish GDDR3 would become the standard in video RAM. But, I guess it's more expensive to manufacture at a maintstream level.
