Well 3D Mark 06 is a synthetic bechmark, but 3167 is a nice score on a DDR2 8600M GT. Still not quite the performance of the GDDR3...

    Wow !!!

169.28 boosts my Min. FPS in NFS MW/PS. It's very STABLE compared to 156.69 !

169.09 is fine too. It's what I've been running for a while. Some people have reported issues with 169.28, so I figure one of the two will work out for everyone. I should probably run 3DMark, but I'm downloading a game from Steam at the moment. Though my overclock will probably skew the results.

the XPS 1530 runs gddr3. the inspirons and vostros run gddr2.

    to PJ@Y-z:

yes thats at the default 1280x1024 on an external monitor. I overclocked my core from 475mhz to 700mhz and the ram from 625mhz to 900mhz.

DDR2 but at 1280x800 probably. I don't think you can change resolution in free version.

how do you guys manage to get the core all the way up to 700MHz from the default factory 475MHz? is that speed stable? i got my core all the way up to 650MHz, no issues so far, but i dont dare to take it higher. regardless of M1530 and inspiron 1520, the same 8600M GT core is used, the only difference is memory, so if you guys (M1530) can hit 700MHz with ease, 1520 and vostro 1500 should be able to do the same or even better, since the cooling system in inspiron and vostro is much better.

I've never used 3DMark06 before. I just downloaded it. The installation program says it will install DirectX 9.0c with it. Since Vista comes with DirectX 10 and DirectX 9.0EX, does this create a problem? Do you have the option of not installing DirectX 9.0c with 3DMark06?

I only took it up to 700 for the 3dmark06 score, meaning its not a permanent OC. I didn't worry about it because I tested fine in ATItool + the temp only deviated about 2-3C from stock speeds. You'll never OC high enough to damage anything severely(assuming you ac at 15-25mhz at a time) because you will either a) start seeing artifacts or b) your PC will shut down because of High temps and restart with default clocks.
