    Is it worth getting the 2.0 ghz for an additional $500 now or will the price go down??? or just get the 1.6 ghz???

    They used to offer the 1.8, but the 2.1ghz has been released and will be available soon. They want to cut down the choices, and therefore inventory. The 2ghz price will come down once the 2.1 is available.

    * Inspiron 8600c * 1.8ghz Pentium M * 128 MB Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo * 2x512 MB DDR2700 SDRAM * 60GB 7200RPM HDD *

    Just read my post on Intel 21 hours ago since you obviously havn't done so. I do my homework before putting such statements, to provide a way for getting proof, just the opposite of how a troll works to get attention.

    Robert the laptop I own is the least expensive next to what I have sunk into a 800 DVD R1, 2,& 4 collection and a 300+ CD collection, the Sony changers to hold them all including the Pioneer to hold all the CD. The HDV set cost me $3,000 in 2001 + $299 for a locking stand, can you just imagine all the money I have sunk into Home Theater?

    Not brag but $25,000+ wouldn't come close as I bought DVD in 1997 that cost $30 a piece and my first DVD player cost $1,200 in June of 1997. Study hard at college to get to those level of toys, geeze my DVD *reference* cabels off of www.bettercables.com cost me an arm and a leg and I have 6 of them, since I own region free DVD players also.

    I have a 2.0GHz the one you want, but I had owned one that was a 2.2GHz and this one is just as fast as the higher by 2 GHZ @.2GHz the one they just released. Robert the key to staying new is to up grade your RAM. My first Demension was 800MHz computer had 128MB RAM and that was considered plenty including a 20GB HD, now I have a 1,024GB RAM and a 80GB hard drive for 2004 only 4 years later![8]

    Ok, I'm just going to go ahead and show my notebook novicity(ok, it's not a word). You can upgrade the processors in the 8600? I had kind of been thinking about doing the same thing. If I can upgrade it later, well that changes things.

    You can upgrade the processor in the 8600, all though it wont be as easy as upgrading memory. Personally I agree with bootleg, i got the 1.6 instead of spending how ever much for 400mhz more...
