Help!!
I just got an 8600 -- and I like it in general, BUT, I did the upgrade to sxga+ and everything on the screen is tiny. I'm kind of old and I really can't use this very well.
If I returned this in favor of a system with and XGA screen, I know less information would be able to be displayed on the screen, ergo, things should be bigger, yes?

Well, there are a couple of options you could do...
You can go to "control panel", "display" , then "advance" to increase the DPI
However, if you aren't going to play games, etc., you may be better off with the XGA. That will be much easier for your eyes if SXGA seems small. -
Thanks Nesbo, I sure hope it is, this is making me feel really old, I never play anything more than the occasional free online game.....and all of those appear on this screen too tiny to play!
I reorded and I am waiting for my new machine. I'll compare and send one back.
I wish I could have compared beforehand--but my local computer store only had xga monitors on all the laptops--I didn't dream sxga would be so small. -
Now be careful, you only get 21 days to return your original computer, so keep that in mind!

Same problem here. First had WSXGA+ and simply could not use it; icons too small. Adjusting DPI and other settings caused additional video quality issues that made me miserable.
Received 8600 with WXGA a couple weeks ago, and it's a keeper. The "W" gives more screen real estate, but the XGA makes icons and text big enough to read. Still smaller than a "regular" laptop's icons/text, but a perfect resolution for my aging eyeballs. -
THANKS DEW!!!
My XGA is due tomorrow (held up due to the holiday)--I am SO relieved to hear you say that the XGA was a keeper. (Glad to hear that it wasn't only me having the problem as well!)
Dating myself here but "what a drag it is getting old."
