Hey Folks, is the dell 8600 (128mb ati 9600) a noisy computer? I'm trying to hit a sweet spot in terms of performance/portability/cost. Some of the competition includes: IBM t42, Compal CL56, 15"Powerbook, 12" iBook. I know that my prospective laptop choices are all over the map, but bear with me. Silence is the most important attribute, to me, since loud computers cannot be used in class. I take many seminar-style classes in rooms that are nearly dead-silent, so fans, etc. can definitely be heard. Of course, there is always the clicking of the keyboard, which can't be helped, but a GPU/CPU fan that's constantly on is going to be a real drag. the T4x series IBMs have silent-running fans, and my current Titanium Powerbook runs completely silent, as well. Does anyone know if the Dell 8600 makes noise?

The most that you hear nowadays from computers is the Cd drive going. And I know that much annoys me. In a quiet room with nothing else on, I do not see you hearning it at all.
