If you go to the Dell Canada website and try to make an XPS 1530 and choose the T9300, it says that's not compatible with the 8400 and forces a 8600 on you. What kind of new way to screw people's money is that?

Just remembered their Alienware division says that a 700W PSU can't handle 2 8600GTS in SLI too!

welcome to capitalism. corporations love to capitalize on ignorance. but i think it's because getting a pre penryn processor uses a different mobo. but then again. it might not.

Take it up with the CSR.. If the 1330 can do it, no reason why the 1530 can't..

Although why would you want to stick with a 8400GS anyway?

I doubt tere would be appreciable battery life difference b/w the 8400M and the 8600M. If it were stacked against the x3100, I'd have concurred. But b/w two dedicated chips, very little...

I recently tried to configure a system on HP's site, and if I chose a Penryn it told me it wasn't compatible with the 8400M and the base network card.
