I just got a new XPSM140 last night and noticed that my 80GB hard drive is actually 68.4GB. Now I realize that 80GB is not truly 80GB. But the capacity reads 73,484,646,488 bytes. There is 6.82GB used space and 60.6GB free space, which is only 68.4GB total space! Is it normal to only have this much space from an 80GB hard drive? Thanks.

Dell uses a hidden recovery partition, the Windows installation and the other free software will take up quite a bit of space. The XPS M140 also has the quickplay feature which basically is a small linux partition. So 68GB is probably what you will be left with after all of this.

The capacity readings are correct as hardware manufacturers and Windows calculates it using different systems.
