I am going with the 5400 rpm hard drive on a Latitude D830 to save batt and heat -- my question is...
Will the 120 gb 5400 rpm hard drive be any faster than the 80gb 5400 rpm hard drive?
I have heard that a 120 gb 5400 rpm hard drive is as fast as a 80gb 7200 rpm...
All I will be using for is Office apps, Internet, email, cd audio, occasional dvd playing...
Thanks.

Metamorphical Good computer user
A 120 gb will be faster because of the platter size and Density. I don't know if it is as far as a real 7200rpm drive though. That amout of space should be plenty for your needs.

Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
From initially using a 7200RPM 60GB drive then going to a 5400 120GB drive, I cant detect any noticeable difference at all outside of benchmarking, in real world use they seem pretty much the same to me.

I have a 80gb 7200 rpm drive now and wonder if a 80gb 5400 rpm will be any noticeable difference in browsing, light office apps, email, etc..
