Well It has finally been 8 months I have had my Vostro but today I found it >.<.

I changed wall paper to pure white by accident along the side of the screen about 2 inchs from the top and just a tad to the left there appears to be this dot. I fiddled with colors and noticed that that dot on the screen which is quite large( about the side of a Q-tip stem) is lighter then the rest of the screen. It does not appear when the back ground is black but only black.

I have never seen anything like it. Usually it is a light spot that gets lighter in the dark not the light. Usually from pressure on the screen.

edit: It is a Philips screen

    Thanks in advance for help

    no problem. anytime.

but seriously, were you looking for solution to try and get that out? you could try massaging it with your finger or a q-tip. doesn't always work though.

    :( no dice with massage

I was hoping to get rid of it since it appears like a pimple on your first date with a chick back in highschool

It apperas to be 4/5 pixels by 4/5 pixels

No i have not put pressure on my screen. Usually if pressure is applied its more noticible with darker shades as this one is opposite

these are called dead pixels..contact dell and they will replace the screen for you.it's a chance that you were in your warranty period

Yeh - Just ring them and tell them you have a cluster of dead pixels and tell them how many pixels it affects (1 or 2 is considered fine a lot of the time but a cluster is usually enough to get a replacement no problems). I had a screen replaced after 6 months and then another month later due to dead pixels. You may have to send them a picture of the offending pixels.
