Well I finally got my e1705, 7950GTX, and T7400 in the mail this week. Now I'm hoping I can get some help from people who can give me a walkthrough of this procedure. What I need to know is how to gain access to the cpu and video card. Obviously I'm going to need to remove the LCD display, keyboard, palm rest. Anybody have a detailed write up that they can point me towards?

you can find them on ebay. You can also call Dell spare parts, and also look under the for sale section. As to the directions, you can find better information in this forum, do a search:

And again, yes it fits with very slight modification.

Thanks exe! I'll try Dell spare parts...figure with the release of the newer cards, they should be dropping in price soon. The e1705 is a great deal right now for those who don't immediately need DX10 compatibility. Can't wait for it to arrive! Feel like a kid at Christmas! :D

Hey, sorry for not getting back to you, as you can guess, I've been busy installing the 7950GTX and T7400. I've successfully installed both and am trying to work out the kinks still as far as vista drivers are concerned. I know I can use the stock dell 7950GTX driver for the xps laptops, but am trying to use modified desktop drivers that give me full options. Bah, I also need the 130 watt psu as well.

As for your question, got the card for $310 on ebay. They mostly go for $350 and up on ebay. Don't buy from Dell unless you want to pay an absurd price.
