Bioshock doesn't seem to run well on my E1705, and thats a shame.

I know the GTX has 512mb of memory, twice than that of my GS.

I'm not familiar with the clock speeds, I'm looking them up.

But basically, I can get a GTX card for about $200. Do you guys think it'll be worth it just to hold me over until next year when they have something a little more ass kicking in a smaller laptop?

Do you guys think it's worth it? Also when the service guy had my laptop open a few weeks ago I noticed my card has two heat pipes. Isn't that a little out of the ordinary?

Basically, do you guys think it's worth it?

Although I never did it with my 7900GS, there's a way you can flash the BIOS and achieve speeds right around the 7900GTX.

Search "Official 7900GS Overclocking Thread" on these forums, there's a huge thread about it. I'd say read over that before you spend any money just yet! :)

The GTX has twice the memory as the GS

    According to another poster, confirmed on Wikipedia;

    The NVIDIA 7900GTX

    Pixel Fill Rate (# ROPs x clk): 8 billion/sec
Texture Fill Rate (# Pixel pipes x clk): 12 billion /sec
    RAMDAC: 400Mhz

    The NVIDIA 7950GTX

I went ahead and bought it.

    I got the 7900GTX with 512mb GDDR3 ram for $200.

The 7950's start at like $350, and are as much as $500 sometimes. Not worth the extra money, when they're basically the same.

Now, I have a few questions. Do I need to flash a bios? Or does the card handle it's own bios? I'm not all too knowledgable about bios' but I know how to flash one and where to get them.

Does anyone know if the 7900GTX runs at 1v or 1.24v? I have my GS set to run at the 1.24v setting to get a little more performance out of it. :/

    Bought, installed, runs great.

4600 in 3dmark06 without overclocking. I don't have the new power cable yet, so I haven't tried to overclock it.

It didn't get above 70 on 3dmark, peaked at 77 while I played Dark Messiah Of Might And Magic.

Going to try Bioshock when I wake up.
