    Hi,
Im getting my very first laptop I had it narrowed down to the Dell Inspiron 14 Dell Vostro 1320 and various Blue label best buy options (hp dv4). Anyway Im close to making a decision except I have an optional upgrade to 900p I can make with the Inspiron 14. I just want to know if i should make the upgrade to 900p? and would it actually be worth the money? Its like an extra 60 dollars. Does 720p give pretty clear concise hd quality? Thanks for you help

it's my favorite feature of the studio 14z that i have. the screen is short because it's 16:9 but the 900p resolution makes up for it. on the 720p screens it kinda feels like you can't fit that much on the screen besides one maximized browser window.

Granted, I do understand what you're trying to say, but by the definition of "maximized", it doesn't matter how big or high resolution of a screen you have, if you maximize something on it, then that's all that's going to fit.

Picture quality is going to be extremely similar, though that's not what you want to base your decision on. Higher resolution screens can fit more things, but also make things smaller.

Determining what screen resolution is best for you requires that you go and look at laptops in person. So go to your nearest electronics store.

I think you should go for it. Going from a 14" 1280 x800 to a 14" 1440 x 900 display was just about the only worthwhile factory upgrade I could do for my E6400, and I totally don't regret it; the extra screen estate is great.

But as Lithus says, the higher res screen might not be for everyone; you should indeed look at similar machines if you can. Nonetheless, even if everything is too small for you in the end, you can always turn up Windows' DPI on a high res screen, but you can't ever increase the maximum resolution of a low res screen.
