a little help from any 700m owners, here's the situation...

i have a i6000. my roommate has a 700m. sometimes i will hook up my 6000 to the tv setup to watch a video off my harddrive. here is the setup...

i6000 -> svideo to rca -> rca to vcr -> vcr to tv

it's ghetto but all our good equipment is in our own bedrooms.

anyways, this setup is not a problem for my 6000. the notebook recognizes an external device plugged into via svideo and when i hit Fn+f8, it gives me the ability to cycle through the video output options.

what's weird is when we plug the same svideo cable into my roommate's 700m, his machine doesn't recognize that anything is connected via the svideo cable. when you hit Fn+f8 (or whatever it is for the 700m) to cycle through the video output options, it only show the notebook's LCD.

there is no problem going to an external monitor, but that's using the vga out.

has anyone been able to successfully connect their 700m to a tv?

Try control + alt + F12 and see if those settings help.

    try this option too...

if the graphics card is an nvidia

right click desktop - nvidia display - it should say laptop display - and look for a tab that says nview display settings

in this section you will be able to see a laptop and then if the svideo cable is plugged in you should also be able to select tv in the current display menu.

You may also want to click on detect displays at the bottom of the image posted. If the TV is not automatically being detected.

Ignore the last two posts, as the 700m has an Intel integrated card, not Nvidia

right click on the desktop and go to graphics options and then output to --> monitor, notebook, extend desktop, etc

I've connected mine thru just the s-video out to a tv

alright if its integrated, it should still be the same way. but it wont show up as nvidia. you have your own drivers that prob has some similiar way.

Its quite different, depending on the company that makes the card. Intel is so much different then Nvidia, and the way everything is set up.

I had to right click on the desktop and choose display on tv, but the quality looked horrible on my 32inch LCD tv. My plans were to be able to go to a friends hook up my laptop to his tv and login to my slingbox and watch movies at his house since he just has basic cable. But the quality is so poor when I hook it up to my tv I dont think I should even bother.
