I've got a Dell 700m that I sent in for service because of dead pixels on the screen. When I got it back, I've noticed that the laptop seemingly randomly turned off. So after a bit of research I figured out it only happens when running on battery power, and only when the battery gets any pressure applied on the verticle access (tipped up and down).

Anyone else come accross this? I've tried a couple batteries, and nothing seems to help. I tried adjusting the little pads and it didn't seem to help. I pulled the laptop appart only to find out that the 700m's power connector is on the motherboard so there isn't a good way to move it back a mm or two.

So any ideas? My dell warrenty ran out about a month ago, and I'm presuming that dell doesn't warrenty thier in warrenty repairs.

They might, tell them it started happening right when you got it back and you didn't know the problem was hardware related.
