I am interested in buying a laptop computer before i go off to college. I have narrowed my choices down to the 700m or 6000 but I am unsure of which one to buy.

I plan on using the computer occasionally for dvds but mostly for web surfing, dvd encoding and burning, music, and notetaking in class. I have some questions about both computers that I hope someone could answer.

If anyone was wondering about the stats of the computer
    1.6 ghz pentium m
256 mb of ram(will buy either 512 or 1 gb stick from other retailer)
40 gb hd(will buy external hard drive later)
12.1 wxga or 15.4 inch wxga
    higher capcity battery
    8X dvd+-rw drive

    700M
    1. I have read in some reviews that the screen is almost too glossy in well lighted areas and it gives a strong reflection. Is this over exagerrated and if it is true does it distract from web browsing and using a word processor?

    2. Is the small keyboard difficult to get used to?

    6000
    1. I plan on getting the wxga due to a tight budget but have read that it is not very bright. Is this a real problem and if so does it make doing daily computing tasks difficult?

    2. I was wondering if it was possible to use the 6000 for portable uses such as watching a dvd on an airplane and bringing it to take notes in classes? Also would it fit in most backpacks?

If you don't plan on playing games then I would go with the 700m. I was actually fortunate enough to check out the 700m before purchasing one. I was also concerned about the smaller sized keyboard. After typing on it for 1 hour I easily adjusted. Most people have problems with the . and , keys.

As for the screen, my only complaint is that the text is a little small. I'm sure you'll get use to that too.

BTW - I love how portable the 700m is.
