I am looking to buy a 700m but am freaked out by the 2hrs or less battery life.

Every review says to buy the extended battery, but I hear it sticks out of the back?

Does anyone have pictures of what that would look like?

Also can anyone comment on the issue of poor battery life in real world situations, ie is it really that bad?

    Thanks

Look at this post. It shows the pic of the laptop with the extended battery.

I have both regular and extended batteries on the 700m.

I would say that yes, the notebook does look somewhat ugly with the battery sticking out, but it's not so bad other than that. It certainly doesn't affect portability too much because it sticks out less than an inch. Balance is somewhat mildly affected.

In practice however I found the battery not a nuisance at all since I keep it in my notebook bag in reserve and I use the normal battery most of the time. The convenience of being able to just swap it when the power is low instead of finding a plug and unwiring the wires is just too much to ignore. Basically, I only charge my notebook when I get home. I use the two batteries the whole day at work and I enjoy never having the pesky task of unplugging, moving, and replugging the power adapter.
