okay here's my problem.. i configured a failry high specd 700m so that it comes to $944 before shipping and taxes ($1059 USD after) but this is because i opted not to get coverage for it..i only got 1 yr. the three year will cost an additional $200, and the four year another $300, and i feel like why should i pay extra money for something i might or might not have use for....do u guys recommend getting a 700m under just one year warranty?

plus another question. whhich integrated video chipset does the 700m use?

I think those warranties are a waste of money for almost everyone. Most issues occur in teh first year, it's bad luck otherwise. For a machine that costs under $1000, I just can't see spending nearly a third of that on a warranty for a computer you won't want in 3 years anyway.

The 700m uses the older integrated video, though it's not listed on their spec sheet.

Say I get the 4 year extended warranty, plus the 4 yr accidental damage protection plan, and say 3 yr’s and 6 months after the date of purchase I drop the thing and the LCD screen shatters, or maybe I fry the motherboard or something un-repairable happens to it., will they give me a new 700m? a 700m from 2008? How does the policy work?

Personally I wouldn't feel bad only getting a one year warranty. Like others have said if something is wrong it'll likely go bad in the first year. And if something like a hard drive goes later on that can be replaced for pretty cheap. Even completely dead laptops can be sold on ebay for parts and get you some decent money so it's not always a total loss.

Get the expensive warranty, make the price over $1500, and then use a coupon code. You get the warranty without paying for it.

Yeah - definitely don';t pay for the warranty. If it breaks, chances are it'll be within the first year of use. If it breaks in 3 years, it probably won't be worth fixing - and you'll want a new laptop!
