I got a few questions regarding those models especially the 710m

The 710 might be my first laptop. it was either the sz110, dv1000t or the xps m140. sz110 is too expensive, dv1000t has a weird extended battery placement and also expensive and big, xps big.

Im choosing the 710 because I can add 120gb, its small and batterylife is high. my config is around $1300 and Its pretty loaded.

But i need ot know if
    1. have you gotten used to the small keyboard?

    2. Does it have pcmcia? I would like to have the ability to add evdo.

    3. Is it cumbersome to add to your messenger bag or backpack? do you really know its there or is it light enough to be unnoticable?

    4. is the AC adapter big?

    5. do you wish the screen was matte?

    6. do you use it in your caR? is the screen to glossy for inside the car use during the daytime?

    7. can you use dual screens w external lcd screen via VGA output?

    8. People complain about small screem. Can you change the display setting to make the display bigger for visibility or are you stuck with the suppertiny setting?

    9. would you buy it again?

Please answer as much as you can..thank you

My father owns one, and I have used it a few times

    1) Yes, although it is kind of hard to type on

    2) I don't know.

    3) At 4.2lbs It is quite light but you do still notice it's there.

    4) The AC adaptor isn't big. It's not tiny either. I would say it's around average size for a 12" notebook. It weighs about 1/2 a lb.

    5) I love the screen, it's one of the best things about it. Love the glossyness :)

    6) Have used it in the car, it does reflect some of the daylight, but you can still read and look at it just fine.

    7) Yes, it will power up a screen at 1280 x 1024. Like my 19" LCD.

    8) You can change the resolution of icons, and text, and most other things. I don't find it small. It's easy enough for me too read.

    9) I think my father is very happy with it! I really like it too. Although if your going to be typing papers and other things on it a lot, I would say get an external keyboard, or buy a laptop with a bigger keybaord.

I am a happy owner of a 700m & here's my answers to your questions:

    1. Yes. It's not a problem using the keyboard.

    2. Yes, it has a pcmcia slot & I use it for my Audigy ZS2.

    3. It is pretty light & it fits easily into my backpack even though I used a Watefield sleeve on my 700m.

    4. I think the size of the AC adapter is ok, not too big.

    5. Although I love the glossy screen, I do at times wish that the screen is matte because I spent a lot of time coding on my 700m.

    6. I have not used it on my car before so no comments.

    7. I have not tried it so again no comments.

    8. Yes, you can change the fonts bigger but I'm fine with the default size which is perfect to me.

    9. Definitely, if I have the money, I'll have bought another one (a new 710m) by taking advantage of the great 34% off that is currently on.

Hope my views help & good luck to you. :)

    SPEED and JASON! thanks!

I just need to clarify something. 8. what i meant was can you change the resolution? to lets say 800x600 (iknow its widescreen but something smaller?) whats the increments from 1280x800 and down?

I dont want to change the font and icon size on my 710m because I will be using it for minor webdesigning. Im glad you guys are used to the keyboard.

Btw where is this 30%? I configured a 710m and all i get is the included discount.. i didnt use any coupon/

I'm pretty sure that changing the res. will make everything look "yucky" (technical term), so it's not recommended to do so.
