    Hello all,

When my 700m is plugged in and charging, the brick section of the power supply seems to make a high pitched noise. I am certain the noise is coming from the brick and not the PC.

I notice it more when I move the mouse. I searched the boards and came up empty, Does anyone ever experience this?

It's not a big deal, I just want to make sure the power supply isnt damaging the notebook.

    any feedback would be appreciated

    Thanks,
    FJ

I'm sure Dell would send you a new one if asked. The one I had didn't do it.

You move a mouse and the power adapter whines more? that's almost comical to think about how the experience would be, the mouse would draw slightly more power when moved but it's strange to think that would correlate to the adapter making a noise or having to draw more power, but I suppose the only way to find out is use it not plugged in and see if the noise goes away (I assume you've done) and then switch the adapter for a different one to see if it solves the issue. As zazonz says, contact Dell and get them to send another.

I have a dell 700m, got it replaced!!!!

Exactly the same problem as yours.

It wont go away its a 700m DEFECT! again!!!!!!!

The hissing sound is caused by the battery. If you plug into Ac powa, no sound, if u use battery, there is sound.

I STILL AWAIT DELL FOR MY RESPONSE!!!

dell sent me a replacement ac adapter... it is much quieter an only can be heard if I stick my ear directly to it (which I don't plan on making a habit of lol)

In my instance, the hissing noise happened when the adapter was plugged in. When the wire was out, there was absolutely no noise. But the replacement adapter seems to be 95% quieter.
