I own a Dell inspiron 1525 and its been 4 years since the purchase. I recently bought a 9 cell battery and have an adapter of 65W. Wanted to know if both are compatible with each other or I need to use a 90 W adapter for this?

Another issue is my laptop shuts down while I use websites like facebook and you tube. What could possibly be the reason behind this. Is it overheating or flash problem?

The 65W adapter should be fine. Have you checked the fans? You could be overheating. Check out the fans and make sure they aren't clogged up.

sometimes 65w PSU throttles down your cpu and gpu. It is the case when it was supplied with 90w. See if it gives you a warning in the bios. My E6400 and E6410 have been subjected to the throttle with the lower 65W

The 90W adapter may charge the battery faster, but that should be the only difference. I have never heard of any throttling issues on the 1525 (or any of Dell's 965 generation for that matter).

EDIT: As for the shutdowns, I would second checking your fan and vent for excessive dust buildup.
