It is there on every boot-up on my new system. Is this something that is required, or is it something I can disable. If I can disable it, are there any related processes I can get rid of as well? Thanks.

That would only be running if there was an associated program that required Microsoft SQL Server. What applications do you have installed?

It was there right from the start. The only thing I have installed is Firefox, Nod32 and Winamp. But, like I said, it was there right from the first time I booted Windows.

I found no applications using the service, but found an entry in Startup processes in msconfig while I was cleaning up there. I just went ahead and disabled it there. Thanks.
