I have a new Dell Inspiron 640m laptop( core 2 duo t5200, 1G RAM, 100GB SATA drive) that I bought recently. I have 100GB 7200 rpm SATA drive. But in the windows device manager, it shows as ATA drive. I checked under IDE controller- i can see two channels - channel 0 is connected to HDD and channel 1 is connected to DVD+RW drive.
I checked BIOS, and I couldnt see a settings for SATA drive. I even restalled OS. I tried to add AHCI driver for the ICH7-M, but it didnt pick it up too. Can someone tell me how can make my SATA drive behave like a SATA drive?

    Thanks
    Rajesh
