So, I have a 640m with vista home premium. I cleared all the partitions when I reinstalled Vista on it and it was working fine for about a week. Then, all of a sudden, it boots to Dell MediaDirect when I turn on the machine and it freezes there. Mind you, I DID NOT reinstall mediadirect when I reinstalled windows. Thats what puzzles me. Now, Its stuck and won't budge... any suggestions?

If MediaDierct is loaded when you press main power button, then you'll have to repair the boot loader. Boot with Vista installation DVD and run the setup > Install now > Repair your computer > Select the Vista installation (there should be only one in your case) > Startup repair.

This will Vista booting problem, but it may screwup your MD loader (not sure though).
