Any one know if the vostro grahics cards from the 1500 line are compatible with the inspiron 6400 line of laptops? I have a x1400 now and am looking to upgrade. I would like to get the 8600m gt and from what I can see, they look like they should swap out. Was wondering if any one has tryed to do this?

Look at the stickies next time, but to answer your question, no it cannot be upgraded. The x1400 is the best upgrade for that notebook

I looked at the stickies, no one has been able to answer WHY this can't be done. Did the proprietary dell interface port change from the 6400 to the vostro for the graphics card? heat spreader issue? is this a BIOS issue? I'm looking for something a little more in depth than "no it cannot be upgraded. The x1400 is the best upgrade for that notebook".
