The differences I note are:
Mushy keyboard on 6400 -- not good
Very mushy mouse keys on 6400 -- not good
To me, the core duo seems no faster than i6000's processor. In fact, it often seems slower.
My conclusion: not an upgrade.

that is true about the mouse keys, but i'm not sure that i'm a fan of my i6000 buttons either, they have a loud and hollow feeling click. Either way, it feels a bit chintzy
-
I was worried that the button would actually break. With further use, it eventually lost that springy sound. The Dell i6000 was a strong and reliable computer.

WUXGA
Pentium M 1.6 Ghz, 512 MB RAM
-> now a property of my 5 year old. -
thats nice for a 5 year old. when i was 5 i liked to play with the typewriter and the mac plus. that thing had an external 5 mb hd that you needed to use to boot up.
BTW, hows the wuxga on the 15.4" screen? i went wsxga because i thought that 1920x_______ was too small. just wondering though. -
The Core Duo is quite a bit better than the Pentium M when you're multitasking, however, clock for clock when running single-threaded applications, the difference isn't as obvious.

Technically I've typed a message for all those who desire to read...
But, all right. -
