After a clean install I was getting the PC set up and going through the Windows updates, as a lot appeared. I chose the ones I wanted and after it got to about 50% downloaded the update icon disappeared from the system tray and that was the end of it. It didn't finish, I didn't install any of them, and they haven't appeared again.

I checked the Windows Update site and they are not in my installed updates history. I think I can download them from this site though.

Are the incompleted downloads now stored somewhere on the laptop and can they be deleted?

If they don't complete generally they'll be on the list again at the MSFT download site, accessed through control panel.

I reckon they were still downloading, but without the icon still in the system tray because one of the shut downs prompted to install updates and there were 46 of them.
