Why is the 630m not listed on the home side for Dell. I thought it was there when it was released. I only see it on the small biz site and the good coupons will not work there.
Does anybody have a good coupon code for it on the biz site or a link to it being listed on the home site?
Thanks
-
On the Home side, the 630m is the (XPS) M140. Most of the Inspiron coupons you may have seen exclude XPS laptops. There are however 15% coupons ($1299+) that have been emailed to people that do work on XPS notebooks. And you can stack a $50 off $999+ coupon from the Dell regifting game. (This is what I did recently.)
Another member suggested ordering from Dell over the phone and getting an additional 10% off by saying you are a repeat customer. (I wish I had, too!)
By the way, if you are interested in the 630m, I believe there are bigger (20-30%) EPP coupons that work on the biz side. But they may be one and done, so you may have to hunt for those. Good luck! -

I used a small biz notebook coupon for 20% off of the I-630m. EPP site only lists the M140 which their last 30% + 12% did NOT work for. In time I believe they might offer a coupon that includes XPS, but with Dell you never know.

You can tell 'em your a repeat customer even if you truly aren't? Sneaky yet brilliantly feasible.

Thanks for the replies. The configuration for the 630m I had was exactly what I wanted and was a few dollars over the limit for the $250 coupon. What a shame. The XPS with the same config cost $150 more.
That 10% off is a great idea. I am a returning customer so it would not be a lie. -
The small biz site now has $250 off the 630m. Does anybody fore see the 630m being offered on the home site. With the larger home side coupons I could get a lot more machine for the same price. Does anybody know why it is not being offered on the home site? It seems like it fits better into that line.

The 630m and the M140 are pretty much the same. Some of the configurations are priced a little differently, and Windows XP Media Center Edition is apparently only available on the M140. My take is this:
1. Dell is positioning the M140 as an "entertainment" laptop with WinXP MCE as the default OS. Also, it is under the XPS line which means (supposedly) better service and other special deals (0% interest for 18 months with DPA).
2. As for the 630m, there are a couple lower/cheaper configs on the 630m--40GB HD, cheaper memory upgrades--befitting business types who want a widescreen version of the 600m, but want the best bargain possible.
3. If you take the base M140 and compare it to an equally configured 630m, then there is actually only $150 difference. For that difference you get the option of MCE, XPS service (whether or not it will be any good), and a free Dell DJ Ditty ($89 value). The last one was much better when the M140 instead had the free dvd burner (also $89) last week. In that case, for those who ordered before Thanksgiving (like myself), equal configs would have been only $60 different.
So, yes the 630m is a little cheaper, but it's still the same as the M140. That said, the M140 is definitely being aimed at a different audience: if you see Dell's splash ads, it bills the M140 as "Powerful, easy to use, mobile entertainment." Though I guess entertainment doesn't include today's 3D games. (I can tease; mine's being delivered today.) -

What sealed the deal with me was I received a coupon for 20% on the small business site, and had an EVALUE coupon that reduced the amount of ram to 256mb for $50 less. I had the replacement RAM ready for the system. My I-630m came out to $739.00 before $24 handling charge & taxes: Total was $807.00...
From week to week, Dell does change prices and specials, so it's all luck of the draw and how long you want to wait to get a system.
Other than the less-than-stellar screen, and a warm palmrest (CPU is located near the left palm rest)... This system is really fast, not as heavy as I thought (6-cell battery), and just plain cute (to me at least -- though I wish it was decked out in black trim ala M170) -
You got a sweet deal, no doubt about it. I snagged a 15% off coupon from a helpful poster at another forum and had my $50 off deal too. It was still over one grand, though! But the 9-cell upgrade is expensive, and I sprang for the 2 year warranty.
I read your review on the screen, and I'm hoping I don't notice! We'll see about the heat. I'm getting it today! I'll post my thoughts another time; got a busy weekend ahead.
BTW, I don't have the lappy in my hands but I definitely agree on the white trim thing. Maybe Dell does too. Ever notice how the pics of the M140, especially on the splash screen/ad on Dell's home page, make the trim appear silverish. Hmmm.... -

One thing for certain with the biz site is that you need to state your business name and I am assuming, proof of the business' existence.

For the Small Business site, you just put your name as the business and you are good to go. That is what most do when ordering from that site, as I do... never had an issue.
-
Hmmm interesting. Is the return policy/warranty different when ordering from the small biz site though? I've heard some stories about not being able to return a deffective (perhaps just disliked in the first month) machine from that department.

I have had no problems exchanging and even returning systems through Dell's Small Business site, whether they were defective or just didn't want it.
Return policy seems to be the same. I was currently shipped a screen to replace on the 630m I just got from the Small Biz site with no problems. -
Oh okay. I'll check out the small biz department then. Sometimes they have better deals than in the Home department.

Yup currently they are running $250 off the 630m so the price is $799, $200 cheaper than the M140. I just received a small business coupon for 25% off the 630m. I can PM it to you if you want it.
-
Just go to www.deals2buy.com for all the latest coupons.
Does anybody know what the next round of Dell coupons are going to be? I am about to pull the trigger on a 630m. I am pissed that it is not being offered on the home site where all the best coupons usually are. -
NYC, i'm here in Canada and if you are using coupons for the US Dell site (i'm assuming), they are no good here. I wish I could use a 25% coupon; that would be nice but unfortunately the best I get is about $200 off a $1599 purchase :|.
Anywho, thanks anywase. -

Wow....I got a great coupon on the I9300...$750 off a purchase of $1999 or more...
-
Lucky you...
-
Yeah I really want this 630m because its a smaller size notebook that finally has the option for trubrite. Personally a wide screen (i like widescreens ) the most common size 15.4 is just TOO huge for desks at school...and the 700m is to expensive for me right now as well as it's a bit outdated too.
-
Anyone can purchase from Dell Small Business (and in my experience, you'll get better service and support as well).
If you want to get the 630m (or others listed below) at 25% off in Dell SB, here's a coupon code (as well as another for 20% on other select models):
----------------------------------------------------------
25% off with E-mail Coupon for:
LatitudeTM D610 notebooks
InspironTM 9300, 6000 and 630m notebooks
VCHPD4?6PL1TWH (Expires 12/7!)
----------------------------------------------------------
20% off with E-mail Coupon for:
Latitude X1, D810, D510 and D410 notebooks
Inspiron 1300 and 700m notebooks
M6GGL6WF2R4428 (Expires 12/7!)
----------------------------------------------------------
Â…they were emailed to me - I am not using them, hate to see them go to waste. -
I can't find any coupons for the small biz department for Dell Canada (I have found for Home section, small coupons at that, but nothing for the business).
-
I've seen a quite a few of the coupons for the USA, none of them are THAT great, they are mostly coupons for servers and workstation notebooks. So unless you want one of them and got the money for it I guess your outta luck.
-
Thanks you just saved me an extra 20 bucks. :-D -
Sowelu, thank you for the 25% off coupon. It saves me $50. Are there any dellf or other stackable coupons for the small biz site? -
-
I called into Dell and ordered a 630m. They do not have any 10% off for returning customs like stated in an earlier post. I used that 25% off coupon and asked them if they could do better. He took $30 off above that coupon and gave me 2 year full service warrenty. Too bad they have tax in my state.
My advise is to call in and see if they can knock a few more $ off. -
Hmmm, so you ordered via the phone? I've heard of calling once an online order has been placed and asking them to do a bit better $ wise.

Wow...nice I am glad you got a deal...I prefer to order on thursdays when the new coupons and deals come out :750:
-
Hilarious how Dell has Coupons. Now I just wish newegg would start actually using promotion codes! If they did I'd be in heaven.
-
USAFdude02 NBR Reviewer & Deity NBR Reviewer
Well...Newegg is a great site to begin with...that is why they don't do coupons...they tend to have alot of good shipping deals though.
-
yeah, but I fail to see why even coding something like that into the webpage.
-
USAFdude02 NBR Reviewer & Deity NBR Reviewer
Clarification please
-
Why they would even program a promotional section to the website, it doesn't make sense why they would waste time and money having that done if they dont use it. I have newsletter to them and all, and I can NEVER find any for newegg.

Well...when you seem promotion...you look at it thinking you are getting a deal LOL...I used to be in car sales and we would do the samething and we get people to buy other stuff when coming to us, even not on promotion. They get sales even if the promotion thing is empty.
-
When I did call in he asked if it was in my cart. So, I think the best option is to put it into your cart then call.
-
Do you actually have to go through the credit card/billing process first or just have it sitting 'in the cart' ?
-
I think you just put it into the cart. Then call and ask about getting an additional discount. I told him that I heard returning customers got an extra 10% off. He never heard of that but then put me on hold and came back with a better deal.
-
USAFdude02 NBR Reviewer & Deity NBR Reviewer
Nice....rack up those discounts
-
Just wished I had a dellf coupon to add on that!
-
I kind of wish I did it over the phone. I woulda said... "I heard returning customers get a 45% discount"
LOL
Don't think it'd work though. -
Hahaha, you never know. Perhaps they would throw in 20% off .
-
I already had a 20% off coupon, I ordered it thru biz, compared to Home I saved over a hundred bucks on it. I checked them all Home/Biz/EPP. On just about everything Business got the best deals. Kinda ironic that it beat EPP since its for education.
