I've been reading through some of the user reviews on CNet.com, and there seem to be an abnormally large amount of complaints which mention that the motherboards on the 600M crap out. Are there any 600M owners here that can shed some light on this?

Ken,
I just got off the phone with Dell after my boss's motherboard has gone south for the third time on her 600m. The connection between the bluetooth chip and the motherboard apparently has a tendency to come loose, which gives you a "usb device not recognized" pop-up every few seconds. I find it interesting that in all the raves about the 600m I have seen, no one seems to mention this (there are some pretty extensive posts about the issue in the Dell Community forum and some other forums). I don't know if they have fixed the problem on newer models, but I feel fortunate that after two trips to the depot we are getting a system replacement and hopefully a different model. I have read about people sending their machines in 4 times or more with the same issue.
Anyway, thats my two cents. Many people seem to like the notebook but I wouldn't buy one again. -
ken, u have to remember that the majority of reviews in alot of places such as cnet are going to be ones involving problems and warnings to potential buyers. satisfied customers dont have anything to complain about. ive owned a 600m for over a year already and its fine, even after a few modifications and personal repairs like my friend shooting my screen with a pellet gun. the only complaint against 600m is the hard drive being on the left palm rest so it tends to get hot, but it might have been my fault since i changed the HD from 4200rpm to 5400rpm for better performance. (this will prolly be hotter than standard 600m's)

Mobo's in Dell 600m are not good. I have a 18 month dell 600m laptop. I am not able to charge my taptop and when I spoke to dell ppl today they say that it is bcoz of the mobo and that sucker costs 490 + taxes. ..dunno what to do....
