Ok, I understand that the e1505 is the upgrade version, but I wanted to know if I should just go with the e1505. the e1505 doesnt have a dedicated graphics card and when that is added, I believe the price will be too high for me. IF I were to get the 6000, it would be about $1000 which includes the wuxga and 9-cell battery. If I configured the e1505 to about $1000, I would only get sxga+ and integrated video card, but it has the dual core. Is that dual core enough to justify the smaller resolution and integrated card? I really like the wuxga, but is dual core that much better? Thank you in advance for your help.

That depends on what you are using it for.

If you are just getting a laptop for daily tasks like websurfing, listening to music, watching DVDs - then no, dual core won't benefit you.

If you are a gamer, then it would benefit you because you do get an increase in CPU. Of course that will only be good if you got the dedicated graphcis card.

Well, like most people, I only do a little gaming here and there, like counterstrike, or sports games like nba live, nfl, or fifa. Most of the time, its just surfing the web, typing papers, or messing with photos. The high resolution screen is extremely appealling as well. I'm not saying that the sxga+ is bad, but the screen of the 6000 is pretty much the only reason why I am leaning towards that one, and dedicated card. So should I just go with the 6000? thank you.

yeah, it sounds like the 6000 would be better suited for you since it is within your budget and you won't be playing extensive 3D-graphic games.

    Couple of tips:
1.) Try to get the lowest amount of ram possible, then you can upgrade it from Newegg.com or somewhere else. Newegg.com usually has 1 stick of 1gb for around 80 bucks, so you could easily upgrade to 2gb for about 160.

2.) try to get the highest possible CPU that you can afford. This will help with your games. The more CPU = the better.

Yeah, I always knew about the whole ram thing. It's crazy how they charge you an arm and a leg on ram. Also, I would really like the 2.0 ghz, but again is it worth the $160? I was thinking of buying the bluetooth separately as well, to keep the cost down. Can I find the 9-cell battery anywhere else for cheaper?

I'm confused. I thought the 6000 is not dual core. I kinda made my mind up on the 6000. It fits my budget a lot better.

Personally, i think the 2.0 is worth it. It use to be more expensive, but since Dual came out, they've really dropped in prices.

As for the bluetooth, unless you have a bluetooth device, I wouldn't even get it. You can always get a USB bluetooth adapter or upgrade in the future if you start using BT.

For the 9 cell, try ebay or just googling around. Usually ebay will be cheaper.

The 6000 isn't dual core. Hermit was just giving you that chart so you can compare dual core to a 2.0ghz. Suprisingly, it really doesn't look like that much difference in the gaming section. I expected it to be alot different.

6000 is not dual core. If you are looking at Dell's website, it is still using PM. The 6000 is defintely more affordable than the e1505.

thanks a lot everyone. I've pretty much made up my mind. Although the e1505 is so tempting, the 6000 seems a lot better on my wallet and will be a big upgrade from my current setup (P4 1.7ghz, which has been through a lot). Thank you.

So I just purchased the 6000. Here are the specs:

    Intel® Pentium® M Processor 760 (2GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
15.4 inch UltraSharp WUXGA LCD Panel
    128MB DDR ATI's MOBILITY™ RADEON X300 PCI Express x16 Graphics
    100GB 5400rpm Hard Drive
    8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW)
    Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless
    9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery

for about $1212. I know its a lil high, but what do you think.

It is a little high, but considering what you are using it for and your alternatives, I think you did pretty good with the price.

yeah, I think the tax killed it because the tax was a little over $100. Oh well. I am very excited though. First laptop ever.
