Has anybody had chance to try the new Dell Inspiron 17 7000 5th Generation i7?
    • 5th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-5500U Processor (4M Cache, up to 3.00 GHz)
    • NVIDIA® GeForce® 845M 2GB GDDR5
What is performance like to the 4th generation model, and is battery life better? Is the video card much better? Any other improvements, as it's 18 months since the original 7737... big question, is the touchpad fixed??

I didn't even know that (broadwell) 5th generation i7 quads were even out yet. I thought they were being released Next month or April sometime.

It's not a quad core, it's the ULV (15w) dual core CPU.

Thanks Tom, I was thinking that since its i7 it was quad-core, I didn't realize i7's for broadwell could be dual core. With the past generation i7's weren't they all quad core? and i5's dual core?.

I need to look at the Broadwell roapmap again if I can find it.

    Best regards

The 7737 was a Haswell i7 dual core too, it's the ones suffixed "U" that are ultra low voltage and reduced to two cores I believe. I think 3rd generations had U processors too.
