hey im thinkin of purchasing a xps 1530 laptop. i currently have configured:
    2.4 core 2, 3gb ram at 667mhz, 256mb 8600m gt, and a 160gb hd.
my question is: is there anyway to get a approximate time that the dell 56 mhr 6 cell battery would give me on those specs?

oh which one is better a 2.4 with 3mb cache or a 2.2 with 4mb cache and do you guys think i should wait to get it? cause right now i only have a 20% off coupon. ive seen in some threads you guys got like 40% off. i need it by the summer though.

You will probably get around two hours with that battery.

I would go for the faster processor, 1mb of cache isn't going to make a noticeable difference at all.

Good luck buddy. You'll be waiting at the back of the line for the M1530, which by this point must be miles down the road from when I ordered on 5/11. I am sure your Estimated Shipping Date is sometime in mid- to late June by now. They are on BACKBACKBACKBACKorder for the six cell battery. If you need it faster, order the laptop with the NINE-cell batteries. Those who order that have already had their systems ship, according to those in other threads. I expect to have mine delayed for a little bit because I also ordered the six cell battery since it is due on 5/27, but they don't do building or anything on Memorial Weekend (including Monday).

I don't know what the six cell looks or feels like so I cannot compare, but the nine cell is big, and props the laptop up when it is in.

The 6 cell is flush with the laptop. It does not stick out. The 9 cell sticks out the back bottom. I would get the 9 cell.

oh, so its probably the pic thats on the dell site. cause it kinda like levers the laptop up a bit on the back. (i guess thats good right? more air vent.) sorry butttttt one more.. all the 1530s come with the remote thing that pops out from the side? or is it a option.

    I have the 6 & 9 cell for my 1530 - 6 cell for when out-and-about, and the 9 cell for at home. ;) :D

I prefer to use the 9 cell, as it elevates itself in the back (sticks out on bottom)...thus allowing for ventilation, and it makes it nice to type on, etc.. ;) :)

    That's just my opinion ;) :D

Another quick question. So does the laptop w/ 9 cell battery still fit in those laptop sleeves and/or bags?

I hated the 9 cell on the M1330, it made my whole laptop wobble.

I'm the same as Cin. I havn't gotten my laptop yet, its in the boxing stage, but I found 6-cell battery on ebay for 40 bucks and my laptop is coming with a 9-cell. The air intake is on the bottom so the 9-cell helps keep it cooler with the ventilation. plus its not THAT heavy and seems to be just fine. I just got my 6-cell in the mail today and boy is it small and light.

Just a question. Aside from Dell, where can i find the cheapest and most reliable site to purchase a 9 cell? Not ebay preferably.

If you want to buy a nine cell, wait a couple of months when LG gets their battery factory up and running again. The prices will drop significantly, and you'll have a genuine battery that will be covered under Dell's warranty.
