    Hi,

I have found that for the long term, the 80gb drive that shipped with my M1210 isnt big enough. I would like to keep it as a backup drive though.

What should I replace it with? A larger 5400 drive, or a 7200 drive?

It seems to me that the 7200 will be louder, hotter, & drain the power faster.

Should I be leaning towards a 5400rpm drive (like the 80 gb toshiba thats in it)?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

BTW I think the drive in it (Toshiba 80gb) is a SATA 3.0 drive. Is that possible?

    Thanks,
    Rich

Go with the 7200rpm drive. It will be a little louder, hotter, and use slightly more power but none of those factors will be all that much more than the 5400rpm and it will be noticeably faster in drive intensive tasks.

I mostly web browse & do some very light gaming (very light - solitare :)

I do want a snappy recovery from hibernation & a quick boot. The laptop does sit on my lap & I dont want it to get to hot (dont want to burn myself).

I just installed a 200GB 7200RPM 16MB Cache drive from new egg, it is actually quieter and has no effect on the battery life and boy does it scream.

    Still considering getting a xps1330...
