New here...hope you can help me out with a problem.

My sister has an Inspiron 5150 with the MR9000. She complained to me last week that the display was distorted, and this week it is now completely unreadable. The display is messed up from the moment the power is turned on, and it seems to boot to Windows and run everything else just fine. I hooked it up this morning to an external LCD and it displays the same thing as on the notebook. Is it a fried video card, or something else?

    I've attached some pictures.

try booting into safe mode. i think you have to press f8 or something during the boot process.

I think it's lower-level than it. I see those screens right when the laptop POSTs. And Windows seems to run just fine; my sister can login with the keyboard and then make it shutdown with the keyboard shortcuts that she has memorized.

I tried that. I also tried removing the video card and then putting it back in again, in case it was not seated properly on the motherboard. Unfortunately no luck either way.
