i ordered my 1720 in mid july and am still in the build stage. it was supposed to ship out today but instead i got another delay notice. now it 9/12. this is beyond frustrating. its one thing to delay me and say up front its gonna be 2 months then it is to get my hopes up every week and then kick in the jewels everytime its gonna ship.
im in no hurry for this computer and i did get a great deal on it, but the fact that there customer service treats people like this is uphauling and disturbing. i will never but another dell, i will probably never mail order a computer again.
i would love to get a a honest answer from the CSR's. i called 2 days ago to do an order modification and the guy there said there was no need to cause all parts were in stock and it would ship on the 5th. why would he tell me that. it would seem he would know it would not ship. why lie, why string me along, why not be honest. there arent gonna get me to cancel.
the best service i recieved is from a guy on the dell forum. a guy named todd i believe. i dont even think he is employed by dell(i may be wrong though) i gave him my order number and he gave me lots of info
i posted this on the dell forum and i hope mike dell sees this. although i think he will never hear of this. im almost certain he doesnt even know there is an issue here

I received the same information yesterday on my Sunshine Yellow 1720. I was so angry this morning to find out that I had been delayed again. I am now on the phone with Dell getting my order changed to Jet Black in order for it to ship sooner. I am just sick of the misinformation and lies. In fact, the account manager in order modification told me that if he knew who the guy was who told me my laptop would ship today, he would have a "talk" with him, meaning he doesn't work at Dell. However, the lady in OM asked me to hold while she located the gentleman who gave me that information yesterday. Conveniently, he is on vacation today. So, it seems like even people in the same department, who sit in the same room, do not know what is going on.
I know exactly how you feel.

That must be the hold up because its not even offered anymore.
Oh and I just waited 45mins on hold trying to change my order, and the music just shut off....thats 3 times now. Once on my cell phone and twice on my house phone. G DAMNIT! IM SO TIRED OF THIS SH!T -

I was told repeatedly by CSRs that the T7300 is holding my order up since it is out of stock. I called order mods and asked for a T7500, since as you can see its about the same price now than the T7300 was back in the days when we ordered. They wouldn't do it, since I'm only entitled to promotions at the day that I ordered, not current ones. I tried to explain to him, that the current T7500 price is not a promotion and he started ignoring me. Also he said, that the notebook will definitely come earlier without mod than with modification. -

wierd but if i go to the order from dell delay email it will say my esd is 9/27 but if i just log to account from dell site it will say 9/12...

I doubt it...because on the direct2dell blog... some CSRs post up there and they say they give the customers the information that they get from Dell higher ups ... its a vicious cycle

After being really nice and begging for help, I finally got an email with a DHL tracking number for my notebook !!! The bad thing about it is though, that DHL shows this tracking number to be a shipment from Dell to a women in Oregon and I'm in Massachusetts. I'll try to call DHL to have this changed now.
