I didnt realize that the E1705 only had a headphones port and nothing for speakers. How am I supposed to connect my Logitech Z5300 5.1 speakers? I know there are a couple adapters for Logitech speakers, but it would be $10 for 2 of them and I know it would cripple the sound. Do I have to buy a Audigy card? :( What do I do?

    boy im embarassed

I bought the Logitech X-530 to use with my E1405, which also only has a headphone jack; however, it came with this adapter. All I had to do was buy a Y-Adapter (like this one) to connect it to my laptop. The only problem is that I don't think you get true 5.1 surround sound, which I can live with until someone releases a 5.1 sound card for expess slots.

You can also purchase an external usb sound card, but seeing as how you aren't even willing to spend $10, that might not be an option for you.

How good are the USB sound cards. Id be willing to buy it, I just didnt want to spend $10 on something that is worthless. I saw a couple on newegg; anyone have one of these? What is everyone here doing for speakers?

j4y_7, how good does it sound with the adapter?

Id rather spend $50 or so and get a USB with true 5.1 with my nice system.

I'm no audiophile, but I don't notice any loss of quality by using the adapter... so it really would depend on the speakers that you have. & as I previously mentioned, the biggest difference is that you won't have true 5.1 sound, so whenever your left or right speaker is playing, so is the rear speaker on the same side (basically stereo output w/ 5 speakers).
