I have an e1705 with the Audigy upgrade.. Can I have 5.1? Before I bought my speakers I looked online about my card, it says it can be 5.1, i think, is there a way I can have surround sound with my setup?

    Thanks

Sorry, but the Audigy upgrade you have on your system is simply a software upgrade. Without an external sound card you can not get true 5.1 sound.

I got the Kensington dock with my e1705 (had to have a serial port for antique work-related program) and found out it also has 5.1 built in. It was a nice surpise and sounds much better than I expected out of a USB sound card in an expansion dock. If you want it on the go, that's another thing, but I don't know anybody that travels with 5.1.
