yes, i installed sp1 and my 4 GB became available, as you can see, windows shows 4 GB but the meter on the left side of the screen just 3.5 GB...i was wondering why is that

well....i ve seen that loads of time....like umm....no offence....u cud search on google images guys trying to prove running 4gig ram on 32bit os's....probably it wud be just showing it....not fully using it to its full extent....i wud advise monitoring and benchmarking through sotwares such as cpuz, pc wizard and everest pro and see what they show....if they deliver similar results....i wud just call u 'lucky'....
i tried 4 gig on my 32bit xp and it never showed that result....!! -
SP1 shows the amount of memory installed, not how much memory is available to use.
If you want to be able to use all of the 4GB, you will need to get a 64-bit OS(I doubt most people will notice the difference between 4GB and 3.5GB) -
sp1 for vista allows the os to see the full 4.0gb - it still can not utilize it all though

32bit only recognizes 2gb of RAM you will need 64bit
