Let me first say this is a notebook for my wife and she will be mostly using the computer for Internet browsing and word processing. The reason I opted for the 4 year is because of the $100 rebate.
Also her current notebook is a PII 233 Latitude CPi, so I figured 4 years is about par for her. Any thoughts?

    TIA!

4 years is pretty long. How many times did you have your old latitude in the shop? I heard that you can buy insurance for about $30 a year that will cover damage and theft. That might be worth checking out.

Also, the Dell warranty is transferable. This may pay for itself in the resale value.

Thanks guys for the input. I always hear about the great prices people receive for their notebooks but they never mention anything about buying a warranty.

I agree with you Heart of Gold, if you can afford the warranty, it is worth the return on investment.

The only exception to this rule I believe is if you are a die hard gamer and want the latest and greatest 3D gaming notebook, I would say in two years you will want to replace that notebook for a newer one that has the graphical capacities.
