I recently purchased a M1210, and got rid of Vista and put XP on it. Everything is smooth and 99% of everything appears to work. However, Bluetooth does not work and even after install Service Pack 2 under the instructions on the Dell website I cannot get it to work. Upon startup the PC picks up 4 hardwares it tries to install, but I have no luck installing.

I know for a fact Bluetooth doesn't function, but I don't know what the other 3 are. Please see the attachment I have attached to see what I mean.

My Bluetooth Card is the 355 device.

Yeh I do, I downloaded a tool on the Intel site which got rid of 2 of the devices. So it's up to date.

Did you install your media card reader's driver which should be something like ricoh..... on dell website? For bluetooth, if you know the drivers is already install - tried fn+f2 or go into quickset and choose radio option tab.

Do you have the DELL drivers CD ?
Look at the drivers list in the CD and see which one you don't have.

My Smart Card reader works, I verified it by plugging in my 2GB SD Memory Card.

As for the drivers, I tried to install them from the Dell Drivers CD. As I do it tells me to switch on Bluetooth using the Radio Button/FN+F2 (FN+F2 doesn't exist on the m1210). Which I tried, but no joy. There is no action assigned to the FN+F2 key.

I just purchased a bluetooth mouse (Logitech v270) and realized I was having the same problem as you... 3 devices saying, "unknown device". Did you find a solution to your problem? If so, what drivers are you using?

    *bump*

Installed XP over HORRIBLE Vista and now bluetooth doesn't work. Tried to use the Vista-to-XP firmware update, but it says that a Bluetooth card is not found. I know that I have one because 1) I ordered it and 2) it worked in Vista. Also, fn+f2 doesn't work for the driver update because the hardware can't be found.

Updated the intel chipset drivers, but still no go. I'm wondering whether I should have flashed the bluetooth module when I had Vista installed, because it's not showing up at all - not even as unrecognized hardware.

So the unknown items are the chipset & the card reader? I am surprised that the card reader isnt detected as a USB device (not needing a driver for XP).

The driver you are missing is for i presume the firewire port. It is called "RICOH OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host COntroller". Hope that helps.
