I have 2 gigs of ram in my E1705. It uses the same chipset as the XPS M1710. but the M1710 supports up to 4 gigs of ram not 2. Is there anyway I can get this laptop to use 4 Gigs of ram in the future? Somehow some way? it uses the same chipset as the XPS M1710. Theres gotta be a way..

I do not know anyone who has put 4GB of RAM in the E1705/9400, but IF it is possible, then it would have to be 2x 2GB sticks, which are very expensive and even harder to find.
Note that I am not saying it will work. If it's possible, that is the only way.

even if its the same chipset still have to see if the motherboard allows for that if and i thought the motherboard doesnt [according to dell website most is 2gb on e1705]. kinda like merom/yonah have same chipset but some motherboards wont run it without the bios update.

It may be possible. I've crammed 2gigs into a machine that was only meant to have 1gig (older system) I recommend going with crucial's 2gig sticks best quality product and service you can get. Definetly gonna be pricey though!

I read somewhere that the E1705 is designed to only support up to 2 gigs of ram, but that might just be Dell trying to get people to look at the M1710 (because it CAN support 4 gigs of ram, officially).
